  1. HARD TOOTHBRUSHES CLEANS BETTER THAN SOFT TOOTHBRUSHES – myth or fact?

 ANSWER : MYTH

 A soft-bristled toothbrush is advisable. A hard-bristled toothbrush tend to cause a lot of unnecessary wear on your teeth & gums. Yikes!
 

2.IF YOUR TOOTHBRUSH IS FRAYED, IT’S TIME TO CHANGE A NEW ONE – myth or fact?

ANSWER : FACT

Frayed toothbrushes can harm your gums and are less effective in cleansing your teeth.

3. NO TOOTHACHE = HEALTHY TEETH – myth or fact?

ANSWER : MYTH

Some people can endure pain even with a small tooth cavity while some dont feel pain at all until the cavity is very big and has invaded the pulp (life of the tooth ). If the latter occurs, the tooth cannot be saved and a root canal treatment or extraction is needed. Hence, visit your dentist routinely even though you don’t have a toothache to ensure your cavities are noted and taken care of at an early stage so that you won’t lose your tooth

4.I SHOULD STOP BRUSHING / FLOSSING IF MY GUMS BLEED – myth or fact?

ANSWER : MYTH

Gums bleed because it is inflamed from all the plaque built up on tooth surface which irritates your gum. Hence, brushing & flossing will remove the plaque. Do seek for professional dental help if the bleeding doesn’t reduce or stop.
 

5. FLOSSING CAUSES GAPS TO FORM BETWEEN TEETH – myth or fact?

ANSWER : MYTH…OR IS IT? 

Flossing incorrectly in which one forces the floss down their teeth too hard, can harm one’s gums. This harm will cause gum recession overtime and create gaps between your teeth. Hence, get professional help from your dentist to learn the correct way of flossing to effectively remove plaque between teeth and not hurt your gums

6.DON’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT BABY TEETH BECAUSE THEY WILL FALL OFF ANYWAY – myth or fact?

ANSWER : MYTH

It’s true that baby teeth aren’t permanent , but they should be taken care of properly. Baby teeth that shed off early, most commonly due to tooth decay, poses great problems for the upcoming permanent teeth. One of the most common problem  is crooked permanent teeth.
